Travel Surgical First Assistant RN

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled and adaptable Travel Surgical First Assistant RN to join our nationwide team of healthcare professionals. As a traveling Registered Nurse with first assist expertise, you will support hospitals and surgical centers across the United States, helping to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient surgical care wherever you are assigned. In this role, you will function as a key member of the perioperative team, working side by side with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff.

You will provide direct intraoperative assistance, including tissue handling, exposure, retraction, hemostasis, suturing, and wound closure, while strictly following aseptic technique and adhering to all facility and regulatory guidelines. You will be responsible for helping prepare the operating room for procedures, confirming the availability and functionality of necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies, and supporting pre-, intra-, and post-operative workflows within the scope of RN practice and state regulations.

The Travel Surgical First

Assistant RN will actively participate in patient identification, site verification, and time-out procedures, as well as safe positioning, prepping, and draping of patients. You will monitor patients during surgery, communicate changes in condition promptly, and collaborate closely with the surgical team to promote optimal outcomes and patient safety. Because this is a travel position, you will regularly transition between different hospitals and surgical centers, adapting quickly to new teams, policies, and electronic medical record systems.
