We help customers solve complex challenges while supporting missions that matter.</div><h2>Program Overview</h2><div>The System Administrator I supports NOAA’s Earth System Research Laboratories (ESRL) and the N-Wave national network program by providing entry-level systems administration and IT operations support across research, scientific computing, and enterprise environments.</div><h2>Position Overview</h2><div>RIVA Solutions is seeking a System Administrator I to support IT operations in a Federal scientific research environment. This role provides foundational systems administration, customer support, asset management, and operational support services while developing expertise across enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and Federal IT operations.</div><h2>Core Responsibilities</h2><ul style="margin-top: 0.0px;"><li>Maintain data files and control procedures for networked personal computers and desktop systems connected to enterprise servers.</li><li>Ensure system security and data integrity through user account administration, password management, and resource monitoring.</li><li>Perform daily system backups and file restoration activities as required.</li><li>Monitor system availability and respond to routine user support requests.</li><li>Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software on UNIX/Linux, Windows, and macOS systems.</li><li>Support IT asset tracking and inventory management using tools such as Sunflower and Smartsheets.</li><li>Triage, document, and track user trouble tickets; escalate issues as appropriate.</li><li>Perform media sanitization and assist with equipment disposal activities in accordance with policy requirements.</li><li>Maintain detailed operational logs documenting system behavior and issues encountered.</li><li>Assist with creation and maintenance of systems documentation, operating procedures, and maintenance guides.</li><li>Support compliance with Federal cybersecurity requirements including FISMA and NIST standards.</li><li>Participate in on-call rotations supporting N-Wave network operations as required.</li></ul><h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2><ul style="margin-top: 0.0px;"><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.</li><li>0–2 years of systems administration, IT support, or related technical experience.</li><li>Foundational knowledge of Windows, UNIX/Linux, and/or macOS operating systems.</li><li>Working knowledge of networking concepts including LAN, WLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.</li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Office and standard business application suites.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and operational guidelines.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation.</li><li>U.S. Citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the United States.</li></ul><h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul style="margin-top: 0.0px;"><li>Experience with backup solutions such as CrashPlan, NetApp, or similar technologies.</li><li>Familiarity with monitoring, endpoint management, and asset tracking tools including BigFix, PDQ Suite, and TeamViewer.</li><li>Exposure to Federal cybersecurity frameworks including FISMA, NIST 800-53, and Risk Management Framework (RMF).</li><li>Experience using IT service management or ticketing platforms.</li><li>Experience supporting macOS managed environments using Jamf Pro and Apple Business Manager.</li><li>Interest in atmospheric research, scientific computing, or high-performance computing environments.</li><li>CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent certification (or actively pursuing certification).</li></ul><h2>Salary</h2><div>$75,000</div><h2>RIVA Benefits</h2><ul style="margin-top: 0.0px;"><li>Paid Time Off / Sick Leave</li><li>Health, Dental, and Vision Coverage</li><li>Life Insurance</li><li>401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match</li><li>HSA/FSA Spending Accounts</li><li>Long- and Short-Term Disability</li><li>Pet Insurance</li><li>Wellness Program Initiatives</li><li>RIVA Flex (Flexible Hours and Hybrid Support, where applicable)</li><li>Additional Workplace Benefits</li></ul><h2>Equal Opportunity Statement</h2><div>RIVA Solutions is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
