WYDOT is currently seeking a full-time Engineer II to join its team in Buffalo, Wyoming. This position plays a key role in the development and delivery of highway projects, with responsibilities that include supporting projects from initial concept through design, construction, and final contract completion under the guidance of the Resident Engineer.

Reviews and approves or rejects project submittals/permits.
Reviews and updates forms and documentation procedures regarding construction activities and pay quantities.
Inspects and assures projects/facilities are completed according to plans, specifications, design criteria, and budgetary constraints.
Compiles and submits engineering recommendations and summaries for the design of various projects/facilities with varying levels of complexity.
Conducts extensive research on existing and evolving technologies.
Provides technical guidance, advice, and oversight.
Works in direct contact with contractors and subcontractors daily to manage projects under construction.
Deals with landowners, traveling public, and local, county, state, and federal government entities in the same context.
Performs field inspections, laboratory testing, materials analysis, and quality control.
Develops engineering models, conducts studies, makes cost estimates, and submits reports, summaries, and other required documentation.
Reviews and evaluates the work of assigned engineering technicians.
Performs inspections and testing to ensure the contractor is constructing the project according to plans, specifications, etc.
Provides the contractor with the necessary information to construct a project (showing a project and interpreting plans).
Calculates and documents quantities for payment to the contractor.
