The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician for a temporary detail to the Deputy Chief of Staff position. This role is open exclusively to current Veterans Health Administration employees who are physicians in a surgical specialty. The incumbent will balance administrative duties with clinical practice, contributing to process improvement and resource management within the medical center.

This detail is only open to current employees of the Veterans Health Administration.
Allocation will be 40% administrative and 60% clinical in the discipline of the incumbent's board certification.
Responsibilities
Serve as the lead physician during absence of the Chief of Staff.
Work with clinical service chiefs and performance measure champions to improve processes to meet performance measure goals and improve utilization management.
Review requests for contracts and help determine the best way to obtain required resources.
Coordinate transfers into and out of the Robert J. Dole VAMC with service chiefs, residents, transfer coordinators, and other facilities as needed.
Supervise a variety of staff aligned under the Chief of Staff Office.
Serve on a broad spectrum of medical center committees and task forces.

Requirements
Must be a physician in a surgical specialty.
U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from a VA-approved school.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Ability to perform clinical duties in surgical specialty.
Preferred Experience: Board Certified in Surgical Specialty.
Preferred Experience: VA management experience to include physicians.
