<p><strong>Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ)</strong> is a national organization that brings white people into</p>
<p>fights for racial and economic justice. We work to build the white flank of multiracial majorities</p>
<p>fighting for the things all communities need. We organize white people by engaging their shared</p>
<p>interest-- what they stand to gain by joining alongside people of color. We do this through 150+</p>
<p>local chapters across the US and Canada, a National Membership base, and local base building</p>
<p>projects in the South.</p>
<p><strong><u>Description: </u></strong></p>
<p>The Congregational Coach (herein called “the Coach”) will support congregations through a nine month training program that organizes churches to respond to Christian nationalism that is hosted by Showing Up for Racial Justice Education Fund and the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice. </p>
<p>The Coach will support congregational leadership teams in conducting one-on-one campaigns to clarify a vision for the congregation. The Coach will support these teams in designing and implementing plans for organizing campaigns, survival strategies, and or spiritual formation. These strategies will be used to build thriving congregations, and to lessen the impact of Christian nationalism.</p>
<p><strong><u>Scope of Work: </u></strong></p>
<p><strong>Facilitate and Participate in Program Sessions (approx. 8 hours/month)</strong></p>
<ul><li>Participate in Luke 10 “Learn as We Lead” Zoom calls on the first Tuesday of each month (October–June) (7pm-9pm ET)</li><li>Co-facilitate cohort meetings on third Tuesdays using Luke 10 curriculum and agendas (7pm-9pm ET)</li><li>Debrief after each session with SURJ and Kairos staff</li><li>Record and report key highlights, challenges, and progress</li><li>Read the materials assigned to congregations and the Luke 10 curriculum </li></ul>
<p><strong>Provide Coaching to Assigned Congregations (approx. 10-12 hours/month)</strong></p>
<ul><li>Serve as the primary coach for up to <strong>5 congregations</strong>, including:<ul><li>Hold monthly coaching calls (1.5 hours per congregation per month)</li><li>Support congregations in applying learnings and moving into action</li><li>Be the main point of contact for questions, support and accountability, and report the progress of congregations back to Luke 10 staff</li></ul></li></ul>
<p><strong>Collaborate with SURJ and Kairos Team on coordinating and sharpening the program (approx. 4 hours/month)</strong></p>
<ul><li>Attend two monthly coaching team meetings </li><li>Share feedback and insight from coaching conversations to inform program evolution</li></ul>
<p><strong>Participate in two in-person gatherings in Baltimore (Sept 11-13, 2026 and Sept 2027) (Preferred)</strong></p>
<ul><li>Participate in the conference and facilitate small group discussions as requested</li></ul>
<p><strong><u>Billing Rate</u></strong></p>
<p>The Coach shall invoice SURJ for services provided no less frequently than quarterly and will be paid at a rate of $26 per hour.</p>
