The CAM Engineer is responsible for using IncamPro software to process and analyse customer design data, identifying any discrepancies against specifications and design guidelines.
Key responsibilities include tooling preparation, implementing engineering changes, and supporting production trials and rework tools. The role also involves maintaining data backup systems, optimizing CAM processes, and contributing to long-term improvements. As a project team member, the engineer ensures adherence to standard scopes of service and supports other assignments as directed by superiors.
Key Responsibilities (tasks):
Should have adequate knowledge of InCAM Pro software to generate proper tooling for production by using all the option in InCAM Pro software
Read customer data into CAM workstation.
Verify the Design data against Customer Specifications and internal design standards
Address Design for Manufacturability (DFM) issues, which are not matched with specification and guidelines to improve yield and reduce defects.
Prepare tooling’s (e.g., Litho Glass mask data, SR glass mask data, Back-end data etc) for manufacturing.
Ensure correct layer sequencing, alignment, and impedance stack-up as per IC substrate requirements.
Support production trials, first-article builds, and rework activities.
Handling Engineering change request. Follow change request to prepare the tooling and backup the previous one for traceability
Perform data backups, version control, and secure storage of customer design data.
Maintain traceability and compliance with data retention policies.
Identify and implement improvements in CAM processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., automation, script development).
Work closely with project teams, including design, process, and quality engineers.
Ensure that manufacturing services meet scope, specifications, and delivery requirements.
Contribute to problem-solving and root cause analysis when issues arise in production
Referring to DFM / VDA communication protocols prepared and confirmed by customer by Product engineering team for changes implementation as instructed from customer
Implement quality thinking by running 8D projects to use quality tools and mind set in finding effective solutions systematically.
Complete other job assignments from superiors to clearly understand requirements and finish tasks on time, ensuring all responsibilities are met.
Requirements:
Education background: Bachelor’s in electronic & communication (E&C), Computer Science, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical, & Industrial Engineering.
At least 2 years’ experience as CAM engineer in PCB or Substrate manufacturing
Good technological knowledge and understanding, working experience in a similar industry preferred (PCB manufacture, SMT experience, PCB layout)
Good IT knowledge, especially CAM (Computer Added Manufacturing)
Good knowledge of Genesis / UCAM / InCAM Pro Software
Computer skills – MS Office Package (Word, Excel)
Good stress Management skills
Technical and logical thinking.
Team spirit (able to be part of a team and team leader as well).
